Folklore. Electronic Journal of Folklore (ISSN 1406-0957, e-version ISSN 1406-0949) is prereviewed a journal published quarterly by the Folklore Department of the Institute of the Estonian Language. Full texts of articles are published both in printed version and electronically. We are doing our best to use all the many-sided possibilities an Internet publication might have. Electronical version of the journal is free of charge.

Folklore. Electronic Journal of Folklore welcomes articles by scholars of any country on any aspects and all genres of folklore and comparative religion, including articles on mythology, religion and customs, paremiology, narratives, poetic folklore, ethnomusicology, etc.

Sent articles will be anonymously refereed by two independent scholars. The editors will notify the authors about acceptance, possible alterations or rejection of the article.

Persons wishing to photocopy or print out articles of Folklore. Electronic Journal of Folklore for classroom use are free to do so. Those wishing to reproduce an article for any other purposes, please obtain permission from the editors. Also please contact the editors if you want to link an article or the whole journal to your WWW-pages.

Folklore. Electronic Journal of Folklore is indexed in MLA Folklore Bibliography.

Subscription. Both single issues and annual subscription is available.

Cooperation. Articles will be received as attachments to e-mails, but we will still expect floppy disc and printed copies in order to achieve better design. As to programs we prefer plain text, Word 2.0, Word 6.0 versions and Word for Mac files. We would still like to agree on technical details over e-mail or mail because there is an abundance of suitable programs and quite some of them might be acceptable.

We prefer endnotes and, please, use British English spelling. Integrate quotations of less than 30 words in the text using Italics or double quotation marks. Longer quotations should be separated from the text (without using quotation marks) and begin on a next line. Provide parenthetical internal citations with autor, date and page number as follows (Hoppal 1997: 23). Provide a full bibliography of references cited. When compiling bibliography, please consult the previous number of Folklore. Electronic Journal of Folklore or the editors.

Illustrations. The journal welcomes illustrative material to accompany articles. Each illustration (photos, line drawings, music, sound & video samples, etc.) should be labelled with caption, credits and copyright information. Desired position of illustrations should be marked in the text as *Photo No. or *Fig. No. It is the author's responsibility to ensure that any necessary permissions for reproducing the illustrations are obtained.

File formats for illustrations: photos - .jpg or .tif file; line art  - .eps or .gif; sound - .au (sampling rate 11 kHz) or .mp3, video - .mpg.
