"Folk on the Internet: Ideas and Directions"
Focus
Internet is both an object and environment for interdisciplinary academic study. It has become central in contemporary cultural communication - most of online communication can be treated as folklore, in which shared norms and values are constructed through cultural artefacts. This is why folklorists should turn attention to what goes on in the net.
The international seminar "Folk on the Internet: Ideas and Directions” (June 9, 2015) is an academic event aiming at describing different types of folkloric communication on the Internet, the globalization and localization of texts and images, and the significance of this medium in present-day folkloristics.
