Double-blind peer reviewed Open Access academic journal Folklore: Electronic Journal of Folklore publishes original studies into folklore, comparative mythology, cultural anthropology and related fields. The journal focuses on theoretical and empirical studies, evaluative review articles with a purpose to promote the theoretical knowledge of folklore studies and related fields. Folklore publishes articles on any aspects and all genres of folklore and comparative religion, including articles on mythology, folk religion and customs, paremiology, narratives, poetic folklore, ethnomusicology, etc. A separate section presents overviews and reports of specialized literature, audio materials, etc., comments on conferences and fieldwork, introductions of research centres all over the world, overviews of defended dissertations, etc. The journal is issued in print and in WWW (www.folklore.ee/folklore). The electronic version provides video and audio samples. The full content of journal Folklore: Electronic Journal of Folklore corresponds to all Open Access and Creative Commons rules.

The journal publishes occasional special issues devoted to single topics which merit special attention.
