Dr Lina Gergova
has for period 2010-2012 the postdoctoral grant "Nationalsm and Urban
Feastivity in Post-socialist Europe: Narratives, Spaces, Powers"
Comparative interdisciplinary research on the relation between the nationalisms and national paradigms in post-socialist Europe and the urban festivity as leading in the present. The study is based on the idea of the interaction of narratives, spaces and actors (powers and publics) in the process of ritualization of the nationalism and of the building of national (religious and secular) symbolic sites and routes transforming the everyday urban space, defining and excluding the ‘enemy’ and maintaining the own identity and significance. The scope of the research covers the whole post-socialist EU through only three countries (Estonia, Slovakia and Bulgaria) according to the principle of the extremes.
