Liivo Niglas is an Estonian ethnologist who specialised in visual anthropology, bout which he defended his PhD thesis in Tartu University in 2020. Besides a significant traditional scientific production, he is the author of several anthropologic films, which are per se outputs of research. He trained in documental filmmaking at the ateliers Varan (1998). Liivo Niglas films very respectfully, non-intrusively.
He has filmed on his research fields, in Siberia and in Central Russia, as well as in other regions, in Livonia, in the USA, with two films about Native Americans, in Mozambique and in Asia.
