Autumn school 2016
On November 17 – 18, 2016 the first autumn doctoral school “Dialogues with subcultures” will be held, the organizers are the Estonian Literary Museum and the Centre of Excellence of Estonian Studies. The presentations and discussions relate to subcultures in the broadest sense: alternative faiths, philosophies and ways of living, different social groups (for example, refugees-foreigners, people with disabilities, groups engaged in neo-religious practices) and their cultural, religious, linguistic and semiotic outputs, etc. In addition to the plenary presentations, workshops and discussions of a practical nature are planned in a smaller circle. Renowned experts in their field – Vadim Andreev (Russia), Eileen Barker (UK), Kaarina Koski (Finland), Aivar Jürgenson, Airi Liimets, Liina Paales, Renata Sõukand, Tõnu Tender, Tauri Tuvikene, Aimar Ventsel and others are invited to give presentations – workshops. Participation in PhD School gives 3 credits (ECTS). Foreign speakers give their lectures in English, the working languages of the workshops are Estonian and English. Autumn school is free for PhD School members and partners of the Centre of Excellence. Those coming from outside Tartu will be compensated for their arrival in Tartu on the basis of the public transport tickets presented.
