Nevena Škrbić Alempijević, PhD, associate professor at the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. From 2008 till 2010 she was the head of the Postgraduate studies of the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, and from 2013 to 2015 - Head of the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology. She is the president of the Governing board of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research in Zagreb. She actively participates in the work of national and international professional associations. Currently she is the member of the supervisory board of the Croatian Ethnological Society. She is the president of SIEF (since 2017). Main areas of her research interest are: anthropology of social memory, anthropology of place and space, the construction of cultural regions, island studies, performance studies, studies of carnivals, festivals and other public events.
