Natural phenomena
When can I get to my folk,
ee-ee kresla,
when will I roll to my brothers,
drive to visit my sisters?
In spring, the waves are wide,
autumn streams deep.
Come winter, snow bringer,
smooth the roads,
then I'll get to my folk,
be a guest at my brothers,
drive to visit my sisters.
Millal saan mina omile,
ee-ee kresla,
millal veeren vendadele
sõidan külla sõtsedelle?
Kevadi on lained laiad,
sügise ojad sügavad,
Tule talve lumetooja,
siluta tiid siledaks,
siis saan mina omile,
veeren võeraks vendadelle,
sõidan külla sõtsedelle.
Dear rain, little brother,
flurry, my folk,
dear fall, my sister!
Don't make me wet,
wet a little bird,
the bird's child.
[I have] no place to dry,
my house where to dry up.
My home is under the dry fir tree,
my house under oak leaves.
In that place I dry,
in this house I will dry up.
Vihmakene, vellekene,
hookene, mu omane,
sajukene, mu sõsar!
Ära sa mind märjaks tee -
märjaks tee linnukest,
märjaks linnu lapsekest.
Pole kohta, kus kuivan,
oma taret, kus tahenen.
Kodu kuiva kuuse all,
tare tamme lehtede all.
Seal kohas ma kuivan,
seal tares ma tahenen.
Fall rain, so it's rustling,
let rain so it's splashing.
fall rain, water the soil.
Don't make me wet -
I don't have a dryer at home
a softener of my white shirt.
Saja vihma, et sahiseb,
lase vihma, et ladiseb.
Saja vihma, kasta mulda.
Jäta minda kastematta -
mul pole kodu kuivatajat,
valge särgi vaalijada1.
1 vaalima - siluma, pehmendama
