 Fly, fly, ladybird!

The ladybird on yarrow..

Fly, fly, ladybird,
will the weather be fair tomorrow?

Whichever way it flies – toward the sun or away –
from that direction the good weather will come.

The gadfly’s funeral

Hello, hello, black grouse,
Where are you going, barnacle goose?
“I’m going to the gadfly’s funeral.”
“Who killed the gadfly?”
“The pig with its hoof,
The sheep with its shoulder blade,
The goat with its little nose,
The horse with its horseshoe,
The stallion with its hoof,
The old man with the broom handle.”

Parmu peied

Tere, tere, teder,
kus sa lähed, lagle?
"Ma lähen parmu peiedele."
"Kes parmu ära tappis?"
"Siga oma sõraga,
lammas labaluuga,
kits kitsa ninaga,
hobu umbrauaga,
täkk oma kabjaga,
vanamees luuavarrega."
