Ema viis hälli heinamaale,
kandise kiigu kesa peale,
pani aga käo kiigutama,
suvelindu liigutama.
Küll see kägu kenast kukkus,
minu aga suu ei seisnd ka lukkus.
Hääl käis sellest kõigist üle,
viimaks ema võttis süle.
Viis mind taha põllu pääle,
tuule varju vare ääre.
Uss oli sääl minu hoidijaks
ja vare oli minul vaatijaks.
Põlegid änam seda olnd.
Mother took my cradle to the meadow, where birds would rock it. But the baby still screamed at the top of its lungs. Finally, mother took him to the edge of the field, where the stone hedge protected it from the wind and a snake minded the baby.
