Aliide Kaasik

Then came former Sõru inhabitant Aliide Kaasik. According to her, her life had been very hard – she is a mother of eight children, her husband became an invalid and one of the daughter was born a cripple. When young, she had not done much singing or playing with others. It was only later, when she lived in Kärla, that she learned some songs and games. She also sang to us several songs she had heard from her mother and while living in Kärla and Kõiguste. (From the field work diary of I. Rüütel, June 3, 1961; Rüütel 2015: 172)

M. Tuus was conspicuous /---/ by a rare sense of humour. /---/ Here, in this nook, the people were more modest, but the inhabitants of Sõru were much more fun and they also indulged in bad habits. A. Kaasik, however, left a pleasant impression. What's more, she had a good singing voice, which we recorded on tape. (From the field work diary of I. Rüütel, June 3, 1961; Rüütel 2015: 172)
