II 29 Rode, I rode to Lilleküla

Emmi Juhanson, Pauliine Talvik and Kamilla Vuks (1996)

Sõitsin, sõitsin Lillekülla
enne päiva minekut.
Trai-rai, rai-rai, ral-lal-laa,
enne päiva minekut.

Sõitsin sinna tallu sisse,
kos oli vasitse värtetulbad.
Trai-rai, rai-rai, ral-lal-laa,
kos one vasitse värtetulbad.

Sääl mind ruttu vastu võeti,
sääl mind ruttu tuppa toodi.
Trai-rai, rai-rai, ral-lal-laa,
sääl mind ruttu tuppa toodi.

Anti süvvä, anti juvva,
panti padjule magale.
Trai-rai, rai-rai, ral-lal-laa,
panti padjule magale.

Sääl mul mitte uni ei tulnud,
ma kai neiu kavalust.
Trai-rai, rai-rai, ral-lal-laa,
ma kai neiu kavalust.

Kuidas neiu tööd seal tegi,
kuidas neiu kangast kodi.
Trai-rai, rai-rai, ral-lal-laa,
kuidas neiu kangast kodi.

Viis ööd, vaas vööd,
kümme päivä, küünel kangast.
Trai-rai, rai-rai, ral-lal-laa,
kümme päivä, küünel kangast.

A young man rides to Lillikülä (Estonian for Lileyka, a neighbouring Estonian village) to propose to a girl. He is warmly welcomed and is laid to sleep on pillows. But the young man cannot go to sleep; so he secretly watches the way the girl works. He finds her to be lazy.
